Founded in 1983, Frye-Shaffer Insurance maintains a successful lifetime of personal relationships, customer service and industry experience as the cornerstone of business practices. Tony and Anne Frye built a legacy of excellent customer service and best practices. Now, their son Randy Frye and his wife Kelly have transitioned into leadership at the agency. They have continued the honest, professional relationships built on knowledge of customer needs across states and cities throughout the Tri-cities/Appalachian Highlands. Under the new direction and management, the agency is positioned to grow and provide reliable customer care and insurance coverage to clients for many more years to come.
Anne and Tony took a great deal of enjoyment and pride in knowing that their clients were well served and protected. Tony held the prestigious CPCU (Chartered Property & Casualty Underwriter) designation, the CIC (Certified Insurance Counselor) designation, and the AAI (Accredited Advisor in Insurance) designation. He was a graduate of ETSU and held an MBA from Xavier University. While he enjoyed working with many clients in personal lines, his true joy was in the commercial lines. His passing in 2011 left not only his family in grief but lifelong clients as well. Anne graduated from Tusculum College. She holds the CIC (Certified Insurance Counselor) and the CPIW (Certified Professional Insurance Women) designations. She managed clients as well as the accounting and marketing at Frye-Shaffer with a fun flare. Now, she has transitioned into retirement but maintains a consultative role with the agency.
Under the new direction of Randy and Kelly at Frye-Shaffer Insurance Agency, our clients have the peace of mind knowing that we treat their insurance needs as if they were our own and have for generations.
Randy Frye, Anne and Tony’s son, has been part of the agency since the beginning. He is a graduate of John Battle High School and Virginia Intermont College where he was a Cobra basketball team leading scorer. He has completed NAIER training and the Auto-Owners producer development program. He is active in the community coaching Kingsport Parks and Rec and CHAC softball and basketball teams. Randy brings numerous years of experience in insurance, retail sales, and small business management. This allows him to relate to the challenges facing small business and find the best solution for their insurance needs.
Kelly, is excited to be working in the family owned business. She is a native of the region, graduating from Tennessee High School and Wofford College (B.A. Business Economics). Kelly brings 15 years of prior work experience in building materials sales from the construction industry. She is licensed in Property & Casualty, Life, and Health Insurance and is committed to helping obtain the appropriate amount of coverage at the best rate. Outside of insurance, Randy and Kelly attend Christ Fellowship Church in Kingsport and keep busy with the social and athletic activities of their 3 children. One graduate of Dobyns-Bennett and 2 children still enrolled in Kingsport City Schools.
